Title: PRINCIPAL TEAM RAISE £3,000 FOR CHARITY FOLLOWING THE THAMES BRIDGES BIKE RIDE
Principal Investment Management, the specialist private client investment manager, raised some £3,000 for charity after staff cycled the Thames Bridges Bike Ride that took place on Sunday 11th May.
Principal, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, are marking the celebration by running a special year-long fundraising initiative called Twenty: 20. For every £1 staff raise for charity, Principal will match it – up to a grand total of £20,000 for the year.
Ten members of staff, plus a husband, a son and a daughter, cycled the Thames Bridges Bike Ride and raised some £1,500 which Principal then matched - bringing the total raised for this event to £3,000.
Principal have offices in London, Sevenoaks, and Bath, and manage discretionary investment portfolios for a wide range of clients. They see the Twenty: 20 initiative as the perfect opportunity to put something back into the local community. The Thames Bridges Bike Ride is the second main charity event that Principal have entered this year, after nine staff ran the Bath Half marathon in March.
Anne Gilbert, Principal’s Managing Director comments: “Everyone who took part on Sunday did a tremendous job. To raise £1,500 between them is fantastic, and coupled with the money raised from the Bath Half Marathon, this puts us well on our way to reaching the £20,000 mark that we hope to achieve by the end of October.”
The Thames Bridges Bike Ride follows The River Thames over 14 of London’s famous bridges. This year the event attracted 2,400 registered entrants. Alison Drury (plus her daughter Georgie), David King, Adrian Jewitt (plus his son Tom), Emma and Ken Fry, Jacqueline Oliver, Duncan Gager, Neil Whelan, Simon Hedley, Fiona Young (and her husband Jonny) from Principal all cycled the 33 mile course. All the money raised will go towards supporting The Stroke Association, who help the 250,000 people currently living with stroke in the UK.
